Prague at Christmas, 29th November for seven days
29 November 2017In conjunction with Arte Umbria, a Masterclass in Watercolours, with KELLY MEDFORD
Imagine the towers and turrets of Bohemian architecture, peeking through the crispness of winter mists, possibly with a sprinkling of snow; add the twinkling lights of the legendary Christmas markets and Prague has more vibrancy, atmosphere and magic than you can dream of! Now imagine yourself there, paint brush in hand, bringing your own artistic vision of the scene to life on the paper.
Here is the second thrilling addition to our Arte Umbria courses where we are collaborating with Painting in Europe. Kelly is a superb tutor, kind, inspiring and fun and she knows Prague really well. She is perfect to teach in this most beautiful of locations and show you the sights. Please have a look at her website www.kellymedford.com
What the course will offerThere will be 7 days of painting and sketching with Kelly around different locations in Prague, exploring the bohemian architecture and culture at Christmas. There will be lots of demonstrations by Kelly and one-to-one tuition. You are welcome to jump in and out of painting, or you can take advantage of sightseeing and wander all the wonderful Christmas markets, food and drink stalls at your leisure. During the day we will be exploring, quick-sketching, taking photographs, breaking for delicious coffee, cakes and mulled wine. Afterwards we have the use of a studio to go and paint at our leisure before returning home to our apartments and then gathering in the evening to head out to dinner, sampling some of the local festive delicacies on the way. (We have a computer and printer with us for anyone who needs to print out photographs from which to work.)
During your stay treat yourself to some Bohemian glass or some exquisite Christmas decorations. Like our other excursions away from our Umbrian home, Prague is perfect if you want to come with a non-painting partner as there is so much for them to see and do whilst you are out and about painting and they can join you with a big discount. Prague is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the depredations of the 20th-century. Main attractions include the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square with the Prague astronomical clock, the Jewish Quarter, Petrín hill and Vyšehrad. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
During the thousand years of its existence, the city grew from a settlement stretching from Prague Castle in the north to the fort of Vyšehrad in the south, becoming the multicultural capital of a modern European state, the Czech Republic.
We offer all the pleasure, quality tutoring and congenial company you’ve come to expect from Arte Umbria but this time it will be in an exciting bohemian location with all the festive flavours of Christmas too! As ever places are limited so early booking is advised.
